The Taiwan Industrial History Hall was created through the joint efforts of industry, government, and academia, and is located within the Science and Technology Museum. However, because the planners and designers came from different backgrounds and perspectives, they held varying views on what the Hall should represent. Some believed it should highlight the achievements of Taiwan’s industrial development; others saw it as a center for science education; while still other felt it should showcase the unique path of Taiwan’s industrial growth. In light of these debates, the Hall approaches its mission from the perspective of a museum dedicated to social education. Its guiding principles are explained through three aspects: viewpoints (the philosophy behind the displays), focal points (the selection of content), and selling points (the choice of exhibition methods).
